South Australians continue to pay the price for the Malinauskas Labor Government's failure to fix the state's ambulance ramping crisis, with the latest data revealing July was the third worst month on record. The new figures show ambulances were ramped for 5,434 hours during July. Only July 2025 (5,866 hours) and July 2024 (5,539 hours) were worse. |
Shadow Minister for Health and Wellbeing Jack Batty said the latest figures are deeply disappointing for South Australians who were promised that ramping would be fixed.
“Blair Boyer has capped off a horror week in the health portfolio by presiding over his worst ramping result since becoming Health Minister,” Mr Batty said.
“It has taken Blair Boyer just 135 days as Health Minister to oversee the third worst month of ambulance ramping in South Australian history.
“Mr Boyer might be celebrating a bronze medal for ramping, but South Australians certainly are not.
“In one week alone, the Minister has defended patients being treated in hospital corridors, failed to provide clarity on the cost of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and has now quietly released one of the worst ramping results our state has ever seen.
“There has been media speculation that the Minister is ‘stressed’ and may need additional support in the portfolio. If he is not up to the job, the Premier should appoint someone who is."
Mr Batty said the latest data also showed priority two ambulance response times have fallen for a third month in a row.
"South Australians deserve a health system that works when they need it most. Instead, they're getting excuses and spin while the crisis continues,” he said.
