Many local residents have contacted me to express serious concerns about the proposed 12-storey development at the former War Widows site on Hewitt Avenue, Rose Park.
While formal community consultation has not yet commenced, I have already written urgently to the Minister for Planning to raise concerns regarding:
1. The height, scale and massing of the proposed development
2. Impacts on local heritage and neighbourhood character
3. Traffic, access and car parking pressures
4. Setbacks and amenity impacts on surrounding properties
5. Construction impacts on nearby residents
6. The capacity of existing public infrastructure to support the development

I remain concerned about the Government’s approach to high-rise, high-density urban infill in the eastern suburbs and will continue to ensure that the views of our local community are clearly heard on this issue.
It is anticipated that formal public notification and consultation will commence shortly. I strongly encourage residents to participate in this process to ensure your views are properly considered.
