Something to Bragg About - June

Published June 2024

Every month I profile a member of our local community who is doing great things – something we can Bragg about!

This month I am recognising Dulcie Boag from Glenside who was awarded the prestigious Joy Nobel Medal as the Volunteer of the Year at the 2024 South Australian Volunteer Awards. The Joy Noble Medal is SA’s highest distinction for an individual volunteer.

Recognised for her service to the Hutt St Centre, Dulcie has been an integral part to the organisation for over 44 years – equating to almost half of her life! Dulcie has volunteered her time to the Hutt St Centre through their Op Shop, front reception, sorting donations, coordinating fundraising efforts and events, and helping in their kitchen.

The following account was mentioned in the presentation of her award:
“Dulcie’s steadfast presence and compassionate nature have been a source of comfort and support for countless individuals facing homelessness.”
I’m proud that of the 72 nominees for 2024, one of our very own was crowned the Volunteer of the Year.

Congratulations Dulcie!
