Every month I profile a member of our local community who is doing great things – something we can Bragg about!
This month I am recognising Bob Cooper who is the chief organiser of the Rotary Club of Burnside’s annual Leadership in Conservation and Volunteer of the Parks Award night!
Bob puts in an extraordinary amount of work every year to run the Rotary event which recognises the great environmental work that our volunteers and park rangers conduct.
Congratulations to all the finalists for the awards this year. In particular, well done to the winner of the Volunteer of the Parks award, Penny Kothe, a volunteer ranger in the Flinders and outback region.
Bob has always been passionate about conservation. From 2019 to 2022, he co-ordinated the Rotary District 9510 Drought Relief project which provided more than $880,000 in drought relief for long-suffering families in need in South Australia, Western NSW and North West Victoria. The project involved the commitment of 23 Rotary clubs throughout District 9510 to help support a total of 48 drought relief projects alongside a funds distribution program.
Well done Bob for your continued service to our community, and to the Rotary Club of Burnside for hosting such an important event.
