Something to Bragg About - March

Riley and Izzi with Jack outside The RunHouse

Every month I like to highlight the achievements of a member of our local community who is doing great things – someone we can “Bragg” about! This edition, we are celebrating Olympian Izzi Batt-Doyle and her running community, Run As One.

Named in The Advertiser’s list for South Australia’s top 10 best athletes for 2023, Izzi is smashing goals on her way to representing Australia in her second Olympics at Paris in July.

A talented runner, Izzi competes in an array of events including the 5km, 10km and marathon. Her recent personal best time of 14:59 mins for the 5km (an SA record) puts her in career-best form leading up to the Paris Olympics. Her other achievements also include holding the SA record for the 3km, half-marathon, and marathon (5th in Aus), the Aus record for the 15km Road, and 8th in Aus for the 10km.

In between her own training, Izzi is also a passionate member of the local community. Together with her partner, Riley Cocks, they have founded the popular running community Run As One. Since their humble beginnings in 2020, Izzi and Riley have grown their community into a thriving business, offering world-class running coaching to all fitness levels in a safe and welcoming environment that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.

Through the success of Run As One, Izzi and Riley have also opened their own café @therunhouse - a hub for their community of runners to meet and cool-down. I was fortunate to meet with Izzi and Riley at The RunHouse and hear about the positive impact they are having on the local community.

I wish Izzi the best of luck in getting selected for the Paris Olympics and am proud of the work she and Riley are doing for our community.

Maybe it’s time I get out for one of those group runs… 🏃🥵
