We’ve banned election corflutes!

Published February 2024

Unsightly election posters lining the streets of South Australia are about to be a thing of the past with the Liberal Party’s legislation banning corflutes passing Parliament this week.

I have never been a fan of election corflutes – they are bad for the environment, bad for road safety and bad for streetscape amenity.

The new laws will prohibit the use of the posters at State Elections along public roads, with limited exemptions for areas near polling booths. The reforms bring South Australia more in line with the rest of Australia and will greatly reduce the use of harmful, single-use plastic.

I have been advocating for this sensible reform since becoming your local member of Parliament. You can read here a copy of my speech in Parliament on this Bill back in May 2023.
